Rocky Mountain National Park (28 September 2019)

September 28th is "National Public Lands Day" and is a Free Entrance Day at RMNP!

We will start off by heading north on 93 and take it till it runs into US40. From US40 we will take a slight left onto Heritage Rd. From Heritage Rd., we will make a left turn onto US-6 and head west. Follow US-6 all the way until it merges onto I-70W. Follow I-70W and take exit 232 and head west on US40.

We will be on US40 until we get to our lunch destination at The Ditch, 78941 U.S. Hwy 40 Winter Park, CO 80482 (between Winter Park and Frasier). This leg of the route is 63 miles and should take about 1.5 hours.

From The Ditch, we will head north on US40. At Granby we will turn right on to US-34 and head east. US-34E will take us all the way through RMNP and into Estes Park. This leg is about 80 miles and will most likely take 2.5 to 3 hours depending on how much time we spend in the park.

We will depart Estes Park and head east on US36 towards Lyons. Once we get through Lyons we will make a right turn to stay on US36E and head towards Boulder. To avoid downtown Boulder, we will exit US36E by turning left onto Jay Rd. After a short distance on Jay Rd, we will turn right onto CO-119 (Foothills Parkway). Follow CO-119 till it runs into CO93 again. Left turn onto CO93 and head south towards Golden. This leg is 59 miles and should take about 1.3 hours.

The route I have planned should take about 6-7 hours depending on duration of lunch and fuel stops. Golden is a good location for people to split up so everyone can decide their best route home.

NOTE: If you have not ridden with us before, please fill out and bring the Motorcycle Ride Release.
