Beat the Rally Ride
This ride is two-fold; first to gather everyone to ride into Cripple Creek as a group, and participate in the annual Salute to American Veterans Rally; and second, to beat the procession of 5000+ bikers that will be participating in the annual POW/MIA Recognition Ride from Woodland Park High School to Cripple Creek. We need to start a bit early because the Recognition Ride moves out of Woodland Park at 10am, and once they leave, there’s no traffic through Woodland Park for about an hour. The day of the ride is the most popular day with visitors due to the Recognition Ride, so we’ll want to get to Cripple Creek a little early to get halfway decent parking, and get a good spot to see the procession ride into town (if that is something you want to do).
The route for our ride to Cripple Creek is simple and should only take about an hour (from COS). We will be riding up Hwy 24 through Woodland Park, then turning south in Divide onto Hwy 67 to Cripple Creek. (Link to Route)
Once in Cripple Creek, everyone can be on their own to explore the event and stay as long as they want. When you want to leave, you may want to consider the following routes depending on how you get home, or what you want to do for the rest of the day.
Route 1 (North towards Florissant): If you have time, or make time, you may want to stop by the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, 4729 Twin Rocks Rd, Divide CO 80814.
Route 2 (Via Guffey/Hartsel)
Route 3 (via Guffey/Canon City)
Route 4 (via Canon City)
Route 5 (Deckers/Castle Rock) - WARNING: There are 3 miles of dirt on this route.
Route 6 (via Deckers/Pine to Denver)
Or any combination of the above routes. See you on Saturday!
NOTE: If you have not ridden with us before, please fill out and bring the Motorcycle Ride Release.
